Some of you may wonder how many of the same shirts I own, because I wear it in most pictures on this blog. No, it hasn't got anything to do with continuity, which would allow me to cut different pictures into the same post to falsify the timeline. It is simply that I like the shirt.
When I got my car serviced in Canberra I had to kill a couple of hours. What does one do with a couple of spare hours in Canberra? - One goes to the mall for a spot of shopping! As I was aimlessly walking through the Woden shopping centre I came across a Kathmandu shop that advertised a 60% Off Sale. I do love a bargain, so I dived into the shop and randomly picked up items marked for sale; amongst them this shirt. Reading the various labels I soon learned that it was a very high-tech affair, with built-in insect repellent to protect the wearer in the tropics, high SPF factor to protect the wearer in the desert, and a nifty weave that transports moisture away from the body to protect the wearer from drowning in his own sweat.
Luckily the shirt was in my size, so I took it into a change room and tried it on. And low and behold, as soon as I was wearing it I felt like the love child of Bear Grylls and David Attenborough, ready to take on whatever adventure the world can throw at me! And who would say no to a world full of conquering nature and finding new boundaries at the price of $69 instead of $172.50.
So this is how I got to own The Adventure Shirt. As a matter of fact, it is very pleasant to wear, especially when it is hot, and one of its great features is that it is fast drying. I can hand wash it at night and the next morning it is dry and ready to join me on my next adventure.
